Neurobiology teaches us, that we are ‘open systems’ hard-wired for attachment.
Our nervous system is wired for connection, it has an optimal state of arousal, here is a great illustration by Louise Marra. When we are over-whelmed the nervous system can become aroused into a sense of fight, flight or faun.
When stressed, patterns of self-protection take over that can adversely affect our ability to connect.
Thankfully we can work with our nervous system and learn to recognize when we are needing self-care and re-assurance to come back into a compassionate relationship with self so that we may then feel safe and connected in the world.
Well-being can be developed through reconnecting mindfully to our ground of being; body, breath and heart.
By bringing into awareness and identifying your resources you support your mental healthyness.
